Matthew Aaron Harris, 40, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away on December 1, 2015 at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born in Parkersburg, July 15, 1975, a son of Jack and Beverly Swearingen Harris of Parkersburg. Matt was a 1993 graduate of Parkersburg South High School and a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in the Persian Gulf. He worked at First Energy for over 10 years where he was Senior Generation Specialist. He was an avid NASCAR and WVU Football fan. He was a coach/assistant coach for Blennerhassett Middle School Wrestling and numerous football, baseball, basketball and wrestling teams. As a coach, Matt was very influential in the lives of several young men. He was a member of Real Life Ministries in Greenwood, W.Va. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Cori Lipscomb Harris; five sons, Preston and Austin Harris, Tyas and Josiah Lipscomb, all of Parkersburg and Logan Harris of Logan, W.Va.; one sister, Brenda Cunningham (Russ) of Parkersburg; two brothers, Gerald and Jay Harris, both of Parkersburg; and several nieces, nephews, aunt, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond Harris and Mary McGraw Treadway; and his maternal grandparents, Gerald and Margaret Swearingen. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., South Parkersburg with his father-in-law, Pastor Dan Lipscomb officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens with full military honors by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and one hour prior to services Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to Erickson All-Sports Facility, envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
