Leland Dale Knotts

Leland “Lee” Knotts, 84, formerly of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on August 10, 2011 at Rocksprings Rehab Center in Pomeroy, Ohio. He was born July 14, 1927, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Simon and Carrie Ethel Marshall Knotts. Lee graduated from Parkersburg High School with the class of 1945 and was a U. S. Navy Veteran. He was a former co-owner of Knotts Ambulance Service in Parkersburg, a fireman for the B&O Railroad, was a former inspector for the WV Department of Highways and was a medical courier for Nichols Institute. Lee was past president of the Wood County Democrat Club and was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Parkersburg. He is survived by his wife, Nelva Gregg Knotts, whom he married February 14, 1959; two daughters, Linda Pennybacker and husband, Ron of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Julie Shepherd and husband, Randy of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; six sons, Steven Dale Knotts of Parkersburg, W.Va., David Wayne Knotts and wife, Gloria of Yukon, Okla., David Munday and wife, Autumn of Charleston, S.C., Steve Munday and wife, Kim of Simi Valley, Calif., and Jim Munday and wife, Penny of Ames, Iowa and Joey Knotts and wife, Candy of Rockport, W.Va.; 21 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Simon A. Knotts II and Gregory Lee Knotts; three brothers, Stan, Gene and Paul; and three sisters, Doris, Helen and Sarah. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Grace Brethren Church with Steve Munday officiating. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. is assisting the Knotts family.Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at 81 Mineral Wells Heights , Mineral Wells, WV26150
