Joane Atkinson Foggin

Joane Atkinson Foggin, 88, of Vienna, W.Va., went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family on Feb. 19, 2016. She was born June 3, 1927, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles O. and Lelia Snyder Atkinson. She was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and was retired from Wunder Shoe Store as an accountant. Joane enjoyed playing cards, was a member of the Worthington Golf League, volunteered as a tax instructor for several senior citizen groups, was a member and past Worthy Matron of Vienna Chapter 151 Order of Eastern Star where she was given a life membership by the Vienna Chapter and was past Grand Representative of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a life time member of St. Johns United Methodist Church of Vienna. She loved spending time with her family and was a special friend to many. Joane is survived by one daughter, Toni Layfield and her husband Jeff of Pine Twist, W.Va.; one sister, Sue Tichy (Frank) of Vienna; two sisters-in-law, Mary Kay Atkinson of Vienna and Dolly Foggin of Winter Haven, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful cat, Jasper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Foggin in 2007; and one brother, Robert Atkinson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 22, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna with Jeff Layfield officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank her Amedisys Hospice caregivers, Morgan Smith and Helen McCray for their wonderful care.
