C. Russell “Rusty” Southern, 77 of Parkersburg, passed away March 25, 2017 at Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born July 30, 1939 in Wood County, WV, a son of the late Clarence and Mary Ingold Southern. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Rusty formerly worked at the American Viscose Co., O' Ames, Purolator Courier Service, and Wood County Board of Education as a bus driver. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and camping. He was a member of the Lubeck Church of Christ where he enjoyed getting hugs from all the ladies. Rusty is survived by his wife, Sharon Williams Southern; two daughters, Teresa Southern of Parkersburg and Joanna Godfrey (Rick) of Randalmand, NC; four sons, Paul Coss (Tina), Tim Southern (Terri), Darren Scott Southern (Marilyn) and Wayne Stinson all of Parkersburg; two sisters, Wilda June Stone and Donna Gallaway (Robert) of Vienna; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Rusty was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Jo McCrosky, Ruth Collett and Mable Ritchie. A memorial service will be 11 a.m., April 1, 2017 at Lubeck Church of Christ with Evangelists Steve Fuchs and David Newberry officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 15 at the church. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Pike St. south Parkersburg is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Rusty, to Love & Care Personal Care Home @ 5368 Dupont Road, Parkersburg, WV 26102 .
