Willis Eugene “Gene” Johnson, 69, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away on October 30, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.He was born March 18, 1946 in Walton, W.Va., the son of the late Doyal and Betty Goad Johnson.Gene was a 1965 graduate of Sissonville High School and was retired after 34 years service from Local 132 Operating Engineers. He was the originator of the Mountaineer High Performance Race Car Auction. He was a long time dirt track driver and owner of Johnson Racing, and was the No. 1 fan of his son's racing team, KJ Motorsports. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 169 and was a member of Lubeck Community Baptist Church.Gene was a kind, compassionate and loving husband, father and grandfather and devoted friend to many, who had a passion for old red trucks.”If he was met once, he was remembered always.”He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Helen “Frances” Kent Johnson; son, Kenneth “Kenny” Johnson of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; daughter, Tammy Jo Sheets and husband Scott, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Katie and Evan Sheets; and his beloved companion, his dog Josie.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Janet Slater and Jewell McClanahan.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 at the Lubeck Community Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Houser officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of service on Saturday at the church.Arrangements have been entrusted to Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lubeck Community Baptist Church for the Nicaragua Mission Trip, 154 Homewood Rd., Parkersburg, WV26101
