William Howard Thorn

William H. “Bill” Thorn, 77, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away May 14, 2012 at his residence.He was born January 29, 1935, in Belpre, Ohio, a son of the late Henry A. and Blanche J. Cassady Thorn.Bill was a graduate of Belpre High School and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from E.I. Dupont with 27 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking and crafts.He is survived by his wife, Emma “Tootie” Thorn; one daughter, Melinda Miller of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three sisters, Florence Scott of Kent, Ohio, June Hewlett of Belpre, Ohio, and Mary Mae Thorn of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Jeremy, Shannon and Shawn Miller; and twelve great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence, Donald and Charles Thorn; and one sister, Madelyn Thorn.Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Tim Burch officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery.Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.Wednesday at the funeral home.
