William Russell Cooper, 81, of Pettyville, W.Va., passed away on October 15, 2014 at the Worthington Manor Nursing Facility.He was born April 29, 1933, in Pettyville, a son of the late Lawrence B. and Julia A. Bailey Cooper.Russ was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War. He retired from Union Carbide/Elkem with 32 years of service and was a member of the Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers International Union.He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sara “Maxine” Cooper; three daughters, Deborah (Stephen) Frazier of Parkersburg, W.Va., Cynthia (Allec) Clark of Pettyville, W.Va. and Kimberly (Kevin) Holbert of Winter Haven, Fla.; grandchildren, Kathrine (Brandon) Knopp of Belpre, Ohio, Rusty (Wendy) Frazier of Surfside, S.C., Chad Clark and Craig Clark, both of Pettyville; great-grandchildren, Karleigh, Kennedi, and Kortnei Holbert and Corbin Knopp; one brother, Donald “Pete” Cooper; two sisters, Sarah Bennett and Marjorie Nicolia; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Lawrence B. Cooper; and one sister, Evelyn Hutson.Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home,2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Frank Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
