William "Bill" Oran Butterfield

William Oran “Bill” Butterfield, 73, of Parkersburg, ended his journey and arrived home with the Lord, Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at Marietta Memorial Hospital with his wife by his side. He was born August 25, 1945 in Parkersburg, the son of the late Tom Butterfield, Sr. and Martha Dotson Butterfield. Bill is survived by his wife, Linda Stanley Butterfield whom he lovingly called his bride (of 53 years); his sons, William Shawn Butterfield (Stephanie) of Columbia, Tenn., and John Matthew Butterfield of Charlotte, NC; his brother, Thomas D. Butterfield (Nina) of McConnelsville, OH; his brother-In-law, Dick Stanley (Linda); grandchildren, Austin, Chase, and Hallie Butterfield; his mother-in-law, Vivian Stanley; plus several nieces and nephews. Bill spent the last 54 years in faithful ministry to the Church of Christ. This was his calling and his passion. He was loved by so many to count and his generous spirit of grace and compassion was a blessing to everyone he met. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Leona Derr and Alverta Stanley; his brother-in-law, Gary Stanley; and his father-in-law, Frank Stanley. Funeral services for Bill will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the 36th Street Church of Christ, 610 36th St., Vienna, WV. with Tom Butterfield, Ron Laughery, Mike Moss and Mark Mason officiating. Visitation will be at the 36th Street Church of Christ, Friday, February 15, 2019 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna is assisting the family with arrangements.
