William Lewis “Bill” Jones, 84, of Parkersburg, WV passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018. Bill was born in Philipsburg, PA on December 28, 1933. Bill served four years in the United States Air Force. He retired from Recordak, microfilming division of Eastman Kodak Corporation with 30 years of service. Bill was active in youth sports, coaching Little League baseball and refereeing local wrestling matches in the area. He often said those were the happiest days of his life. After retiring at age 55, Bill took up golf as a full time hobby. He was a member (and weekend starter) of the Golf Club of West Virginia and played to a single digit handicap for many years. He carded several rounds in the 60's, had a couple hole-in-ones and was able to shoot his age more than he could remember. Bill became a civic leader as a member of Masonic Lodge #3, a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite – Valley of Parkersburg, Orient of West Virginia, The Nemesis Shrine and a former president of the Motorized Unit. He was a long time member of the Royal Order of the Jesters, Parkersburg Court #156, the Moose, Elks and American Legion. He truly treasured the friends he made within these organizations. Bill was a long time member of the Stout Memorial United Methodist Church. Bill Jones was proud to be from Parkersburg, WV and would be happy to tell anyone about his hometown when asked. Bill is survived by his wife, Hazel Louise Jones; son, Jeff Jones (Kathryn); grandson, Graham Jones (Casey); and great-granddaughter, Hadley Grace Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Ann Jones; brother, Donald Jones; son, Douglas Jones; and grandson, Brett Samuel Jones. A memorial service to honor Bill will be held at Stout Memorial United Methodist Church 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 25, 2018 with Rev. Cindy Eakle officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
