William “Elbert” Johnson, 91, of Parkersburg, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018, peacefully at his residence, with his family at his side. He was born February 16, 1927, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Okey Bryant Johnson Sr. and Katherine Ann Evers Johnson. Elbert was a U.S. Marine Veteran and retired from Dils Ford. He enjoyed golfing, midget car racing, cars and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his three daughters, Suzi Scholl (Steve) of Vienna, Tina Hopper (Terry) of Madison, NC and Tami Summers (Steve) of Parkersburg; his sister, Katherine Ann Miller of Richmond, VA; nine grandchildren, Terri Jo Garrison, William Johnson III, Jerimiah Johnson, Kevin Scholl, Christopher Whited, Kayla Freeman, Tamika Richardson and Holly Price; twenty one great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, Elbert was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie “Rosie” Anne Staats Johnson; son, Buzzy Johnson and two brothers, Okey Johnson Jr. and Ed Johnson. At Elbert’s request, his body will be donated to the West Virginia University School of Education. Elbert request that there be no service.
