William R. Cook, 59, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away at his home with his family by his side on March 22, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer.He was born April 8, 1951, in Parkersburg, a son of Lucy Holtz Cook of Parkersburg and the late Samuel A. Cook.He was a graduate of Parkersburg South High School and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War having received the Bronze Star Medal.He was the independent owner/operator of RC Trucking and loved to work on his truck, and tinker with his tools in the garage.He was a devoted husband to his wife, Connie Pahl Cook; a loving father to his four children; daughters, Stacey (Lance) Pryce of Mineral Wells, W.Va., Missy (Jason) Powell of Dayton, Ohio, and Heather Enoch of Mineral Wells; son, Mark Hopkins of Vienna, W.Va.; one sister, Shonia (Dave) Balderson of Parkersburg; one brother, Sam (Elsie) Cook of Pettyville, W.Va.; “Big Pappaw” to ten grandchildren, Christina and Bobby Pryce, Brooklyn, Christian and Ireland Powell, Katelyn and J.J. Enoch, and Paige, Payton and Hunter Hopkins; and long-time friends, Randy and Donna Fluharty, John Sartor, and Gerald and Virginia McDonald.In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Ann Cook; and an aunt and uncle that were like parents to him, Glenn and Virginia McDonald.The family would like to express special thanks to Richard Lance for all his time and support and to his caring and compassionate caregivers, Vicki, Sharon and Rachel.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Bob Alfred officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
