William “Bill” Douglas Shepherd, 76, of Parkersburg, passed away Wednesday, November, 27 2024, at WVU Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born in Parkersburg December 28, 1947, a son of the late Charles and Frances Eddy Shepherd. Bill served his country honorably in the United States Army, first calvary division, serving in the Vietnam War and eight years in Germany. He was instrumental in bringing the Vietnam traveling wall to Parkersburg twice and served on the special veteran’s project to have an Agent Orange memorial that will be placed in Parkersburg. He was a retired car salesman for several dealerships in town and formerly owned and operated his own security business. He leaves behind one daughter, Sarah Shepherd of Parkersburg; three sons, Jason Leadmon (Amy) of Parkersburg, Robert “Bobby” Shepherd of Parkersburg, and Curtis Shepherd (Savanna) of Belpre; two sisters, Brenda Cortez (Art) of Tallahassee, FL. and Sandie Fitzwater of Parkersburg; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Leadmon Shepherd; three sons, Billy, Kevin, and Michael Shepherd; and two brothers, Charles Orland and James Roger Shepherd. Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg, has been entrusted with Bill’s cremation and is honored to serve the family.
