William Audrick Sams, 89 of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Aug. 3, 2016 at Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born Dec. 26, 1926 in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Audrick and Nora R. Miller Sams. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from the Dept. of Highways. He was a past chief of the Wood County Emergency Services and a member of Lauckport U.M. Church. He is survived by his son, Richard Sams (Cheryl) of Parkersburg; his daughter, Martha Cochran of Parkersburg; one brother, Pete Sams (Janet) of Lubeck; one sister, Betty Bonnett (Harold) of Marietta, Ohio; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and six great great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Sams; and an infant sister, Lois Sams. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016 at the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Norman Butler officiating. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Green St. Parkersburg is assisting the family with arrangements.
