Willard Shingleton Jr., 87, of Parkersburg, W.Va. went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Select Specialty Hospital in Newark, Ohio. Willard was born June 18, 1928 in Ranger, Texas, son of the late Willard and Alice Smith Shingleton.He was a United States Navy veteran and retired from the city of Parkersburg Water Department as supervisor of the meter shop in 1983 after 32 years. Willard loved his children and southern gospel music, was involved for many years in church bus ministries for several churches, and was a one of the charter members in 1981 of Fellowship Baptist Church in Vienna, W.Va.Willard is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Marjorie Eloise Shingleton; one son, Willard Steven Shingleton and wife, Cindy, of Parkersburg; four daughters, Sharon and husband, Mark Stover of Beckley, W.Va., Rebecca and husband, David Shelton of Mason, OH, Ellen and husband, Michael Riley of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Kathy and husband, Bob Strock of Warren, OH; six grandchildren, Jeff Ward, Melissa Powell, Kelley Baum, Shawn Riley, Beth Owens, and Kristie Shingleton; and fifteen great-grandchildren, Devin, Bradin, and Morgan Baum, Joseph Ward, Brooklyn, Ireland, and Christian Powell, Tate, Macy, Blake, and Nola Riley, Haven Riley, and Mckenzie, Brandie, and Mason Bennett.In addition to his parents and step-father, Willis Long, Willard was preceded in death by three sisters, Pauline Eggar, Opal Heflin, and Nora Truesdell.Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Garvan Walls, Pastor Jon Lands, and Marty Fullerton officiating, assisted by Doug Rowley. The family will receive friends 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
