Parkersburg, West Virginia

Wendy S. “Happy” Henry Gilmore, 58, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on March 13, 2026.

Born on April 22, 1967, in New Martinsville, West Virginia, Wendy was known for her warmth, creativity, adventurous spirit, and the joy she brought to those around her.

Wendy was a loving mother, proud grandmother, talented craftswoman, and a true adventurer at heart. She found happiness in traveling and exploring new places, as well as in quieter moments spent crocheting, working on diamond puzzles, drawing, and writing. She had a gift for creativity and a love for making things with her hands, often sharing her creations and laughter with family and friends.

Throughout her life, Wendy worked in many roles, including as a nurse’s aide, cashier, auditor, area manager, and store manager. She even trained to drive semi-trucks, always willing to take on new challenges and experiences. Wendy took pride in every job she held and was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and the many friendships she built along the way.

Wendy’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Christina Freshour (Jason); her son, Timothy Dotson (Ashley); and her beloved grandchildren, Adam Phillips, Ryder Freshour, Gunner Freshour, and Mikaele Freshour. She is also survived by her mother, Karla Weekley (Dick), and her brother, Robert Henry, Jr.

She was preceded in death by her longtime partner, Lynn Kreaps Jr. “Junior”; her father, Robert Henry, Sr.; her grandparents, Richard and Joan Barnhart and Earl and Mabel Henry; her sister-in-law, Bessie Henry; and her lifelong friend, Tanya Smith.

Wendy will be remembered for her kindness, her creativity, her adventurous spirit, and the love she shared so freely with her family and friends. She leaves behind many cherished memories and a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Her family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home to help with final expenses.

Though she has left this earthly life, we take comfort in the promise of the Lord and the hope that we will see her again.

Her family kindly requests that, instead of sending flowers, donations be made directly to Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101 or by contacting the location, to assist with final expenses.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, southside Parkersburg. Evangelist Victor Casenelli will officiate and services will conclude with interment at Evergreen South Cemetery.
