Gates, 61, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away September 24, 2010, at his residence.He was born February 28, 1949 in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Everett and Dorothy Gates.Wayne was formerly employed as an accountant for several years and was a longtime member of the NHRA. He was also a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.Surviving is one daughter, Megan Cleveland and husband Keith of Columbia, Maryland; one son, Mark Gates, who is currently serving his country in the US Navy; and one grandson, Kevin Cleveland, also of Columbia, Maryland.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Mitchell.Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Lambert-Tatman Funeral and Cremation Services, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va. Private services will be conducted at the convenience of the family.
