Wavelene Grace Carpenter Williams, 99, of Parkersburg, formerly of Sunnyside, West Union, WV, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Worthington Manor Rehabilitation Center. She was born on May 30, 1920, a daughter of the late Nazza and Grace Hill. She was a 1938 graduate of Doddridge County High School. She had worked for many years at Garment Factory in West Union, WV, the Colin Anderson Center in St. Mary’s and retired from the Industrial Home for girls in Salem, WV. She was a homemaker and was a great example of love and kindness to all who have known her. Her family was so precious to her and loved them dearly. Wavelene was a teacher aide at Freedom Christian Academy and was Baptist by faith, attending several churches throughout her life. Wavelene is survived by her two sons, Aubra (Veda) Carpenter, Richard (Ruby) Carpenter; three daughters, Jackie Underwood, Mary Lou (Bob) Miller all of Parkersburg and Gayann (Gary) Crislip of Williamstown; one sister, Ann Hawkins of Calif.; fifteen grandchildren; thirty two great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren; also her special friend and roommate, Inez McQueen. In addition to her parents, Wavelene was preceded in death by her first husband, Aubra C. Carpenter of 38 years; second husband, Samuel Williams of 19 years; two brothers, Wayne and Ralph Hill; two sisters, Juanita Carder and Wandy Powell; two sons, Dean (Janice) Carpenter and Larry (Linda) Carpenter; one daughter, Susan K. Ash; and two grandsons, J.R. Miller and Jeffrey Scott Ash. Funeral services will be held at 2pm. on Monday, June 3, 2019 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St, south Parkersburg with Pastor Dave Cumpston officiating. Burial will follow at Keys Cemetery in Big Flint, WV. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm. on Sunday at the funeral home.
