Mineral Wells

Virginia “Ginny” Dare Raines, 85, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 15, 2026. Born on October 29, 1940, she was the daughter of Charles Dennis West and Mary Ann (Price) West. She spent her childhood in Roane County, WV.

On March 26, 1966, she married the love of her life, Darrell Raines, beginning a journey together centered around love, faith, and family. Together, they shared more than 60 years of marriage.

Throughout her life, she was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. She worked at the Kellwood Sweater Factory in Spencer, West Virginia, and later held positions at the Yonkers Garment Factory, Dil’s in sales, Montgomery Ward as a switchboard operator, and Kreinik Needle Factory.

Ginny was a beautiful and graceful woman, both inside and out, with a thoughtful heart, a gentle spirit, and a smile that rarely left her face. She had a wonderful way of finding joy in life's simplest pleasures and bringing happiness to those around her. She never turned down a good meal, especially when it meant sharing food, laughter, and conversation with the people she loved. Her cheerful spirit, warm smile, and genuine kindness made even ordinary moments feel special.

A woman of deep faith, she and her husband attended Mt. Zion Baptist, Mineral Wells Southern Baptist and Grace Gospel. Ginny loved the Lord and found great joy in attending gospel sings. She enjoyed traveling, camping, visiting the beach and mountains, and spending time in Amish Country. She also had a love for sewing, gardening, and tending to her flowers and plants. Whether enjoying a beautiful view, a delicious meal, or simply the company of family and friends, Ginny had a gift for appreciating life's blessings.

Above all, her greatest joy was her family. She devoted much of her time to caring for her grandsons and great grandchildren, creating precious memories and sharing a love that will remain with them forever. She had a special way of making those around her feel cared for, and her kindness, thoughtfulness, and unwavering faith will be remembered by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Darrell Raines; her daughter, Rita and her husband, David Rial, of Friendly, West Virginia; her grandson, Jordan McIntyre, and his wife, Sarah; grandsons, Tyler McIntyre and Bryan Rial, and his wife Kaitlin; and her great-grandchildren, Kaden, Adra, Camden, Charlie, and Avery. She is also survived by many cherished family members and loved ones.

Virginia was one of fourteen children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Dennis and Mary Ann (Price) West; her four sisters, Irene, Freda, Alice, and Jewell; and her seven brothers, Oshel, Buell, Joe, Dayton, Otis, Charles “Junior,” and Earl. She is survived by her two sisters, Ruth Ray of Fairplains, West Virginia, and Marie Starcher of Morehead, Kentucky and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Adoration Home Health, especially Jerri Rees and Nicole Simons, for the kindness, compassion, and loving care they provided. A special thank you is also extended to Vonda McMillan and Mike & Nancy Smith.
