Virginia M. Echard, 90, of Leachtown, W.Va., passed away on Dec. 25, 2014 at her daughter's residence in Parkersburg, W.Va.She was born February 14, 1924, in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Willard L. and Augustine Marshall Middleton.Virginia attended Ritchie County Schools and was a 1943 graduate of Cairo High School. She retired from the Wood County Board Of Education having worked as a cook at Leachtown School. She enjoyed her flowers and vegetable gardens, cooking and baking. She was a member of Eastern Star #14 Vienna and Leachtown Homemakers. She was a Protestant by faith.She is survived by her daughter, Linda M. McGrew and her husband, Paul of Parkersburg; two sisters, Helen Henderson of Hampton, Va. and Ruth McCauley of Mt. Gilead, Ohio; one brother, Charles Middleton and his wife, Jean of Vienna, W.Va.; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Echard of Elizabeth, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Tony (Janie) McGrew, Joe (Amy) McGrew, Travis, Kurt (Ingrid), and Cathy Echard; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Echard; son, Willard W. Echard; one granddaughter, Angela McGrew; and one sister, Wavaline Czarneki.Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg with Rev. Rick Haught officiating.Interment will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and one hour prior to services on Sunday at the funeral home.
