Virginia Carol Bever

Virginia “Carol” Bever, 86, of Vienna died February 26, 2026.

Carol was born on August 18, 1939, in Parkersburg, WV. She was the daughter of Ralph E. and Margaret E. Duffield. While she was raised in Vienna an extensive part of her childhood summer and holidays were spent at her maternal grandparents (Bernice and Perry Morgan Ramsey) in Braxton County, WV.

Carol was a 1957 graduate of Parkersburg, WV. She was a graduate of Scott School of Beauty. She owned and operated Carol’s Beauty Salon for 65 years. She was an active member of Vienna Baptist Church throughout her life. Carol taught Sunday School in the kindergarten and toddler department for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Music Board, Beautification and Special Gifts and a Sunday Morning Server.

Carol was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi for more than 45 years, serving in her chapter and City Council. She enjoyed playing piano, painting, sewing and cooking.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Monica Bratke; grandson, Kyle Bratke (Olivia) of Morgantown, WV; granddaughter, Victoria of Columbus, OH; great-grandson, Hayden Bratke; her sister, Kay Villers of Parkersburg. Special family members, Mike and Heather Butcher of Vienna and (honorary grandson), Joey Butcher of Morgantown, WV.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Monday, March 2, 2026, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St, Parkersburg. Interment will follow at the Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11am – 1pm Monday at the funeral home.
