Viola Mitchem Strong, 79 of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Jan. 29, 2013 at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.She was born Nov. 20, 1933 in Morrilton, Arkansas, daughter of the late Scipio and Irene Fowler Mitchem. She retired from Borg Warner/ G.E. Plastics as a secretary after 21 years of service. She was Past President of the Roy Johnson American Legion Post 104 Auxiliary and a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, Parkersburg North Congregation. Viola enjoyed fishing, bowling, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Neal Strong; three daughters, Pamela Franklin of South Bend, IN, Sandra Ellis-Barba of Ft. Worth, TX, and Clarissa Strong Plair of Cedar Hill, TX; five sons, DeWayne Franklin of Parkersburg, W.Va., Gregory Moore of Long Beach, CA, Terry Ellis and Michael Strong of Parkersburg, W.Va. and William McGhee of Los Lumas, N.M.; one brother, Spanward T. Mitchem (Alease) of South Bend, IN; 28 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Alan Franklin; a brother, Scipio Mitchem Jr.; and two daughters, Dennise Franklin and Monica Franklin.Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on College Parkway with Buddy Robinson officiating. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, WV.
