Viola Jean Freed (Williams), 86, of The Marietta Center, Marietta, Ohio passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 following a long illness. She was born November 15, 1930 in Smithville, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Goldie E. Dye Evans. Viola was a homemaker and loved sewing, cooking, and canning. She is survived by her daughters, Linda G. and husband, Robert C. Cale, of Belpre, Ohio, Pamela L. and husband, John Beasley, of Athens, Tennessee and Regina M. and husband, Allen Cowan, of Vienna, West Virginia; sisters, Karen and husband, Ed, of Alabama and Betty Defer of Streetsboro, Ohio; half-sister, Sue Booth of Smithville, West Virginia; seven grandchildren, Jack Andrew Colburn, Ben Jr. Colburn, Cathy Jean Colburn Sulkes, Chad Wesley Cronin, Shelley Anne Hatfield, Heather Dawn Chichester, and Stephanie Renae Cotterman; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Williams; and several sisters and brothers. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg with Pastor Don Yeager officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
