Vernon Joel Ferrell, 93, of Parkersburg, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at his residence. He was born July 11, 1926, in Logan County, WV, a son of the late James T. and Martha J. Bell Ferrell. Vernon retired from G.E. Plastics after 25 years of service and was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in WWII. He volunteered at Worthington Care Center for several years. Vernon enjoyed working on old house. He attended North Parkersburg Baptist Church. He is survived by his two daughters, Terri Hescht (John) of Little Hocking, OH and Karen Jean Headley (Jimmy) of Virginia; five grandchildren, Cassandra Crouser (Zachary), Hope Burdette, David Bauerback, Bo and Luke Headley; three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn Ferrell; his 2nd wife, Betty Mae Exline Ferrell; one daughter, Cheryl Johnson; two brothers and seven sisters. Graveside services will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 11 am officiated by Pastor David Carrico and military honors by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg.
