Vernita Carol Brown, 73, of Parkersburg, passed away May 23, 2025 at WVU Camden Clark Medical Center. She was born November 23, 1951 in McFarland, a daughter to the late Lewis and Zelda Lucille Rexroad Duff.
Carol was a cook for the Wood County B.O.E. at Gihon and Kanawha for 27 years. She was a member of Calvary Memorial Church, where she was known for her hot rolls when preparing church meals. She loved being with her family, friends, and her church family.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Clay Brown; two sons, Jeff Bailey (Candy) of Vienna and Toni Brown (Amanda) of Mt. Sterling, OH; twelve grandchildren; two brothers, Larry Rexroad of Lubeck and Randy Rexroad of McFarland; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Loretta Bell and Bernice Talkington.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 29th at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St. South Parkersburg with Pastor Lonnie Coats officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
