Vernice Buchanan, 70, of Williamstown, W.Va. passed away Monday, October 12, 2015 at her residence.She was born February 14, 1945 in Boone County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Millard and Sarah Brown Asbury. Vernice enjoyed garage sales and her animals. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was a homemaker.She is survived by her two daughters, Jo Ann Townsend (Roger) of Williamstown and Crystal Buchanan of Vienn, W.Va.; three sisters, Marilyn Burge (Fred) of Williamstown, Anna Adkins (Phillip) of Summerville, W.Va., and Evelyn Earle (Judge) of Williamstown; four brothers, Corbitt Asbury (Christine) of Peterstown, W.Va., Paul Asbury of Alkol, W.Va., her twin brother Vernon Asbury (Roseanne) of Alkol, and Dale Asbury (Anna) of Broadway, VA.; her two grandchildren, Stacy Townsend of Charlotte, NC and Justin Townsend of Lake Havasu, AZ.; her special pets, Sweet Baby her dog, Sarah her cat, and Otis her fish; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Buchanan in 2003; one brother, Joe Asbury; and one sister, Shelby Gene Asbury.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna with Teddy Tackett officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverview Cemetery in Williamstown. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.The family requests that donations be made to the Amedisys Hospice of Parkersburg, 417 Grand Park Drive, Suite 206 Parkersburg, WV 26105 or the Humane Society at 530 29th Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101 in memory of Vernice.
