Vera Madaline Powell, 94 of Parkersburg passed away August 1, 2017 at Camden Clark Medical Center. She was born April 5, 1923 in Petroleum, WV, daughter of the late Albert Rhodes and Mary Elizabeth McCune Payne. She was a secretary with the Wood County Board of Education. Madalyn was a member of the Parkview United Methodist Church where she served as the pianist for over 40 years. She was a member of the Parkersburg Eastern Star Chapter 14 with a dual membership in the Vienna Eastern Star Chapter 151. She enjoyed reading, bowling and crocheting. Madalyn is survived by two daughters, Liz (Louis) Forella of Shallotte, NC and Jeannie Boyd of Parkersburg; two sons, Ray (Lisa) Powell of Baltimore, MD and Rick (Deena) Powell of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Lea Moyer, Tony Forella, Molly Stebbins, Shelley Johnson, Barry Murphy, Todd Murphy, Greg Murphy, Jamie Boyd, T.C. Powell, Leslie Yetter, Ryan Powell, Sean Powell and Erin Powell; 14 great-grandchildren; a niece, Barbara Hurst, along with a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Powell; two daughters, Suzanne Mushrush and Margaret Nicely; and two sisters, Virginia Varner and Ruth Richards. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg with Pastor Raymond Maleke and Pastor Kurt Busiek officiating. Burial will follow at Lamberton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug.4, 2017 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017 at the funeral home. An Eastern Star service will be held Saturday at 7:30 p.m. by the Parkersburg Eastern Star Chapter 14.
