Velma Pearl Riggs 72 of Vienna, W.Va., passed away Friday, August 7, 2015 at the Camden Clark Medical Center. She was born October 16, 1942 in Tyler County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Okey Herman and Mary Kathryn Scott Riggs. Velma had worked for Public Debt and retired from Jackson County Courthouse, where she worked in the assessors office. She enjoyed bingo with her friends and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Velma is survived by her daughter, Kathy Sole and her husband, L. Scott Sole of Maryville, Tenn.; her brother, Carl Riggs and his wife, Betty of Weirton, W.Va.; her sister, Bernice Fluharty of New Martinsville, W.Va.; her three grandchildren, Arienne, Analese, and Nicholas Sole all of Maryville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Riggs; two brothers, Don Riggs Sr. and Raymond Riggs; and two sisters, Lorna Delores Davis and Norma Jean Bennett. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at the Independence Cemetery, Jackson County, W.Va. with Pastor Don Yeager officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va.
