Velma May Jones

Velma May Jones, 86, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away December 26, 2017 at Camden Clark Medical Center. She was born June 21, 1931 in Wood County, West Virginia, daughter of the late Howard Ray Hart and Nora Conger Hart. Velma was a member of Narrow Gate Baptist Church. She enjoyed painting and bowling. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Surviving Velma are her children, Sandra (Mike) Staats of Wadesville, WV, Ronald (Patti) Jones, Jr. of Parkersburg, WV, Terry (Eloise) Jones of Elizabeth, WV, Brenda Channell of Parkersburg, WV, and Diane (Perry) Elliott of Dallas, Texas; her sister, Edith Keller of Parkersburg, WV; her son-in-law, Steve Freshour of Parkersburg, WV; nine grandchildren; and twenty-two great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Jones, Sr.; a daughter, Monica Freshour; a sister, Helen Starcher; a brother, Ray Hart; a grandson, Dakota Starcher; and a granddaughter, Kayla Lester. Funeral services will be at 6:00 pm Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg with Pastor Steve States officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Narrow Gate Baptist Church, 3743 Saint Marys Pike, Parkersburg WV 26101 in memory of Velma.
