Thomas Sherman Racer Jr, 81, of Vienna passed away June 16, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Steubenville, Oh. June 11, 1937, the son of the late, Thomas Sherman Racer Sr. and Thelma Griffin Racer. Tom graduated from Sistersville High School in 1955, was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was a self employed business owner. He was a renowned businessman in the community, owning several establishments such as D&M Market, The Welcome Corner, Racer’s Drive Thru and Chick’s Lounge, and part owner of the Round-Up Lounge. Those who knew him were blessed to learn the lesson he shared from his 81 years of life. The importance of family, hard work, and laughter. He taught you should always be willing to give and always live life to the fullest. He was an amazing cook, and his passions were his flower beds, music and his dog Coursey who never left his side. Tom always believed you should look your best, and most importantly—never tell them your real age. Tom is survived by his wife, Teresa Moore Racer; three daughters, Mandee (John) Pogue of Parkersburg, Heather (Wayne) Willis of Parkersburg and Tomie (Mike) Randall of Columbus, OH; one son, Thomas Sherman III (Laura) Racer of Vienna; one sister, Brenda (James) Kyle of Vienna; Grandchildren, Colton, Easton Willis, Rylan, Jace, Gage, Jovi Mae Randall, Reagan and Cianah Racer plus several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Tom will be held 1:00 P.M. June 20, 2018 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave, Vienna. Burial will follow the service at Eastlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday the 19th. At the funeral home from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
