Thomas E. Charlton, 81 of Parkersburg passed away Aug. 3, 2017 at his residence. He was born March 26, 1936 in Wood County, WV a son of the late George W. and Mearl Carpenter Charlton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in Germany and Korea serving as an SF5 with Company A 73rd Tank Battalion from 1953 to 1961. He retired from Corning Glass after 38 years of service. He enjoyed horseshoes, metal detectors and karaoke. Thomas is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Mary Withrow Charlton; three daughters, Carol Shields (Robert) of Hillsboro, OR, Pamela Fields (Joe) of Belpre, OH, and Patricia Caplinger (Gary) of Parkersburg; two sisters, Norma Bailey and Shirley Webster both of Parkersburg; seven grandchildren, Tyler Farra (Crystal), Woodrow & Allison Wagoner, Jordan Husk (Emily), Emilee Farra, Olivia Husk and Wyatt Fields; and six great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Wagoner, Marshall Wagoner, Adalynn Husk, Felicity Farra, and Mikayla and Pamela Barnett. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2017 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg with Pastor David Bounds officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery with full military rites by American Legion Post15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
