Sylvester Max Wilson, 89, of Vienna, WV, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Wood County, November 10, 1928 and grew up in north Parkersburg. He was the son of the late Sylvester and Clara Sutton Wilson. Sylvester was the youngest of six children. He graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1948, and was a member of the football team. Throughout his life he continued to be an avid Big Red and WVU Fan. He was a United States Army Veteran who served in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He retired from E.I.Dupont Washington Works. He was a long time member of Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church and later attended Rosemar United Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling the United States and watching Westerns. Sylvester is survived by his wife Joanna Crouser Wilson whom he married November 10, 1948; one daughter, Ruth Sealey (Gary) of Washington, WV; one son, Bill Wilson of Vienna; three grandchildren, Erin Mueller (Matthew) of California, Wesley Wilson of Texas and Heather Kiem (Clayton) of Georgia; two great-grandsons, Ryder and Oliver Kiem of Georgia. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Godfrey and Kenneth Wilson, and three sisters, Myrtle Moore, Madeline Bradley and Betty Laughlin. Funeral services for Sylvester will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave, Vienna with Pastor Ed Lowe officiating. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen North Cemetery, Parkersburg, with Military Honors by American Legion Post #15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. and until time of the services Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
