Susan K. Jones, 72, a resident of Columbus, Ohio died very calmly and peacefully on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Kobacker Hospice House after a two and a half year battle with brain cancer. She was surrounded by family. Born on July 4, 1946 in Elkins, WV, Sue grew up in Webster Springs where she graduated from Webster Springs High School (Class of 1964) and later, Mountain State Business College. She married Jeffrey Jones in Parkersburg where she lived for decades and raised their family. Sue was a very successful realtor for Coldwell Banker and H.E.R., and with Jeff, owned and operated many businesses together including Friar Tuck’s Pub, Whispers, Tux Electric, J. J. Stagedoor, Spotlight Video and Sunsations Tanning and Day Spa. Sue was a long-time and active member of St. Bridget of Kildare parish in Dublin, Ohio where she volunteered and served many ministries helping under-privileged families. Sue was generous, hard-working and caring of others. She loved to shop and cook, and never knew how to sit still. You couldn’t be around her without being asked how you were doing, and if she could make you something to eat. She loved playing mahjong with her girlfriends. She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey of 53 years of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Ronnie VanKirk of Atlanta, Georgia; brother, Dick (Sue) Hawkinberry of Fairmont, WV; daughter, Heather (Dave) Thomas of Bellefountaine, Ohio; son, Jeff (Margaret) Jones of Mission Hills, Kansas; sister-in-law Theresa (Dan) Sapp of Parkersburg; brothers-in-law, Zack (Amy) Jones of Vienna, Matt (Carla) Jones of Mineral Wells, and Greg Jones of Petroleum; and three grand-children, Kyle Thomas, Hannah Jones and Maura Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Bobby and Timothy Jones; niece, Taylor Jones; and sister-in-law, Kathy Jones. The family would like to acknowledge and thank her many doctors over the years; including special thanks to Dr. Craig Sleezman, Dr. Andrew Grainger, her at-home care-givers, and the staff at Kobacker Hospice House. Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home in Vienna on Wednesday, November 7, 2018. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Parkersburg at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 8. Burial will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Parkersburg immediately following mass.
