Susan Jane Asbury

Susan Jane “Sue” “Meme” “Grammie” Hedrick Asbury was born in Hendricks, WV on April 25, 1936, daughter of the late Merrill G. Hedrick and Pearl Jane Hedrick. She entered Heaven’s gates on August 7, 2017, due to a short battle with cancer. A mother and homemaker, Sue enjoyed working puzzles, playing bridge and spending time with family and friends. She was an avid WVU fan and enjoyed watching them on TV. She graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1954. . Sue was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert Lee Asbury in 2013. She was also predeceased by her daughter Penny Lynn James in 2000, her brother, Merrill “Gil” Hedrick and sister, Faye Hedrick Elliott. Sue is survived by her son Robert “Bob” Asbury, II of Panama City Beach, FL, daughter Betsy Righter and husband Dave of Vienna, WV and son-in-law William “Bill” James and wife Kristine of Damascus, MD. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Sean Parsons (Andrea), Travis Righter (Jaclyn), Amy Righter (Garrett), Oliva “Brooke” Asbury (Chris), Jessica James and Owen James, two siblings Wilbert Alan “Oop” Hedrick (Linda) and Helen Schlarb (Dave). She had three great grandchildren, Penelope Parsons, Graham Righter and Emerson “Emmy” Parsons. Per Sue’s wishes there will not be any services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
