Steven Douglas Harper, 68, of Marietta, Ohio passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022 in Marietta, OH. He was born December 12, 1953 in Wood County, West Virginia. A son of the late Cecil Harper and Flora Sheppard Harper.
Steven retired from the Wood County School Board, where he worked as a supervisor for the Food Service Department. He enjoyed working on cars, going to the junk yard, and spending time with his family, especially grandchildren.
He is survived by his girlfriend, Anna Cunningham, of Marietta, OH; two sons, Joseph Harper of Parkersburg, WV and Jesse Harper of Washington, WV; a step daughter, Tracy Williams (Robert) of Parkersburg, WV; three step children, Hazel, Emma, and Austin who thought of Steve as their father, of the home; two sisters, Patricia Pack of Ripley, WV and Karen Mathews (John Cribbs) of Georgia; six grandchildren, Tiffany, Anthony, Austin, Grayson, Braxton, and Coleson; very special friends, Terry and Lilly Varner of Moundsville, WV; the mother of his children, Alice Harper (Eli); several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, “Blue”. Steve will be missed greatly by all of his family and a host of friends.
In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded in death by a sister, Priscilla Newbanks; one brother, Cecil Joe Harper; special friends, Les Lipscomb and Jeff Johnson; and his beloved dog “Scobby”.
A celebration gathering of Steve’s life will be 6pm-8pm Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, South Parkersburg. Memorial donations can be made to the Washington County Humane Society.
