Steven R. Bratke

Steven R. Bratke born July 27, 1964 in Nashville, TN to Robert and Charlotte Bratke passed away on December 28, 2024. He was a 1982 graduate of Parkersburg High School. In 1986 he graduated from the school of Business and Economics and was a 1989 graduate of the College of Law at West Virginia University. He practiced law for 35 years in WV and Ohio with privileges in the United States Supreme Court, the Supreme Court of Ohio and the United States Court of Appeals 4th Circuit.

During his life he was a proud member of the PHS Marching band and Speech and Debate team. He continued on to the debate team at WVU, where he then became the head coach from 1986-1989. He was also one of the founding coaches of the Golden Gals Softball to whom he coached to multi state championships and world tournament appearances. He was also a member of Vienna Baptist Church where he was in the Handbell Choir, Construction Committee and the Moderator from 2000-2024. He enjoyed coaching youth football for Vienna Rec and being a booster of the Parkersburg Cougars and treasurer to the PHS wrestling team.

Steven is survived by his wife of 35 years, Monica Bratke and father, Robert Bratke of Vienna; his two children, Kyle (Olivia) of Morgantown, WV and Victoria of Columbus, OH. He always said his children were his greatest accomplishments. Also surviving is his sisters, Sharon Bratke (Shaun Denson) and Susan Rader (Brian); grandson, Hayden, who he adored; nephews, Patrick Bratke and Wade Garrett; nieces, Kelcie Garrett, Mackenzie Rader and Anna Bratke. He had multi great-nieces and nephews that he enjoyed spending time with.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte Bratke; brother, Scott Bratke and grandparents, Edward and Marguerite Bratke and Mable Corey.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, January 3, 2025 at the Vienna Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Brown officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday, January 2 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna and one hour prior to the services Friday at the church.
