Stephen Kendall Sturm

Stephen Kendall Sturm, 86, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away August 24, 2012 at Camden-Clark Memorial Center, Memorial Campus. He was born September 20, 1925 in Huntington, Cabell County, W.Va., a son of the late Clarence and Sudie Elizabeth Heck Sturm. Stephen was a graduate of Morris Harvey College (now known as the University of Charleston) where he earned his Bachelors Degree in Education. He began his employment as a teacher in Ona, W.Va., and later went to work for the Metco Company as a salesman. He was known locally as the longtime owner and operator of Sturm Supply Inc. of Vienna. Stephen was also a member of the Vienna Sharks Airplane Club and was proud to be a veteran of the US Navy, having served during World War II. Surviving is his loving wife of nearly sixty-five years, Mary Virginia Chapman Sturm; two daughters, Barbara Sue Smith of Vienna, W.Va., and Sharon Carol Lowe and husband Conrad of Belmont, NC; one son, Sheldon Ray Sturm and wife Diane Lynn of Palm Coast, FL; eight grandchildren, Rachel Williams and husband Terry, Billy Smith and wife Heather, Jamie Wosje and husband Jon, Amy Stephens and husband Kevin, Katelyn Richison and husband Alex, Stephen Sturm, Austin Sturm, and Stefan Chapman; and eight great-grandchildren, Trent and Reagan Williams, Jenna and Justin Wosje, Avery and Lauren Smith, and Kolby and Allison Stephens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Leonard Sturm; and his aunt, Alberta Cummings, who passed away at the age of 107. Funeral services will be conducted at 2PM Tuesday August 28, 2012 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, with Stephen's son-in-law, Rev. Dr. Conrad Lowe officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery with full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8PM on Monday August 27, 2012 at the funeral home.
