Stanley Eugene Thomas 79, of Mineral Wells, W.Va., traveled millions of miles on this earth and crossed into his final heavenly destination on March 8, 2016 at Marietta Center, Marietta, Ohio. He was born December 20, 1936 in Newport, Ohio the son of the late Charles and Florence Stewart Thomas. Stanley served in the U.S. Army and was owner/operator in the trucking industry for over 40 years. He was a faithful servant to his Lord and Savior and attended Grace Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Shirley A. Pickens Thomas; three daughters, Diane Lamb (Pastor Michael Lamb) of Parkersburg, W.Va., Christine Morris (C. David) of Parkersburg and Karen Beall (Michael) of Vienna, W.Va.; one step-daughter, Julie Weaver of Florida; two step-sons, Douglas Byers of Gallipolis Ferry, W.Va. and Jeremy Byers of Pittsburg, Pa.; one sister; Eunice Hescht of Belpre, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Louise Earley Thomas; and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m.on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. with Pastor Todd Hill officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery, Reno, Ohio. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimers Association of the Mid-Ohio Valley, 1218 Market St. Parkersburg, WV 26101.
