Shirley A. Dowler, 79, of Rockport, WV, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Camden Clark Medical Center. She was born October 15, 1938, in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Lafe and Garnet Moore West. Shirley graduated from Parkersburg High School. She formerly worked at G.C Murphy’s, she worked part time at the Rockport and Mineral Wells post offices, and was known for her pies and bread she made at the Liberty Truck Stop in Mineral Wells. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the Slate Chapel United Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Diane Watkins of Parkersburg and Sherry Pratt (Randy Ballengee) of Parkersburg; one son, Robert Dowler (Kathy) of Rockport; one brother, Jack West (Della) of Rockport; three sisters, Kathy Lambert (Larry) of Rockport, Sharon Somerville (Gary) of Elizabeth and Norma Deem (Roger) of Grace, Idaho; four grandchildren, Tim Shears, Michael Dowler, Randy Shears and Jessie Pratt; five great-grandchildren, Kaelin Shears, Emma Jean Shears, Olivia Dowler, Owen Dowler and Saylor Shears; several nieces and nephews and her furry companion “Lilly Mae”. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her step-mother, Florence Graham West; her husband, Robert Lee Dowler; son in-law, Randall Lee Watkins; and two nephews, Richard West and Mark Anthony West. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St, south Parkersburg with Pastors Everett Snyder and Lloyd Keith officiating. Burial will follow at Limestone Cemetery in Rockport. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
