Date and Time of Service: 11AM Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010 – Pike St.posted 9/26/2010 at 12:29:28 PMSamuel Ray Winland, age 80, of Parkersburg, passed away September 25, 2010 at the Camden Clark Memorial Hospital.He was born February 15, 1930, in St. Marys, W.Va., a son of the late James O. and Clara E. Bailey Winland.Samuel retired from WVU-P in 1982. He was a member of Lauckport Baptist Church. While there, he had served as an Usher and sang in the choir. He had also been a member of Jefferson Baptist Temple for over thirty years. There he had served as a Sunday school teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, sang in the choir, and also served as Assistant Treasurer and a Deacon.He is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Michael Winland and wife Gloria of Williamstown, W.Va.; daughter, Vicki Curlee and husband Rusty of Phenix City, Alabama; four grandchildren, Michael Winland and wife Trisha of Cincinnati, OH, Kristin Stephan and husband Greg of Melrose, Mass., Eric Baker of Ft. Hood, TX, and Timothy Baker of Ft. Wainwright, Alaska; and one brother, James Winland of Parkersburg, W.Va.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Nellie Hollerson.Funeral services will be conducted at 11AM Tuesday September 28, 2010, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg, with Rev. Bernard Thrash and Rev. Dr. Gerald Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens with full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from 5-8PM on Monday September 27, 2010, at the funeral home.
