Samuel Rex Watson

Samuel Rex Watson, age 71 of Belpre, Ohio passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital. Sam was born January 11, 1946 in Wood County, WV, a son of the late Melvin P. and Eleanor Cale Watson. He was a 1965 graduate of Belpre High School and was an US Army Veteran. Sam known as the “Milkman” by many children, served as custodian and bus driver for the Belpre City Schools for 30 years. He enjoyed farming and was a member of the Porterfield Baptist Church. Sam is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon S. Parks Watson; two daughters, Rita Toncray (Jerry) of Belpre and Lisa Welch (Allen) of Coolville, Ohio; two sons, Eric Watson of Barlow, Ohio and Erin Watson of Belpre; three sisters, Betty Starlin of Coolville, Mary Putnam and Toni Shutts both of Belpre; eleven grandchildren, Jason and Brian Reynolds, Sam Toncray, Justin and Travis Welch, Jon, Tayla, Miranda and Austin Watson, and Klarissa and Kenny Watson; and eight great-grandchildren, Hailey, Trace, McKenzie, Aubree, Keira, Leighya, Emma, and Kendrick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Cecil Watson; brother-in-law, Harley Starlin; and one nephew, Jerry Starlin. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 29, 2017 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Belpre. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery, Belpre. Visitation will be from 4-6 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Per Sam and his family, visitors are welcome to leave their hats on for the service. The family would like to thank 2 West Pod B Nursing Staff, Dr. Dennis, and Marietta Amedisys Hospice for their love and care given to Sam. A gathering of family and friends will meet at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Belpre for a potluck meal following the graveside services on Monday.
