Samuel Ellsworth Stout, Jr. (Sam), of Vienna, WV, left this world too soon, and entered into the presence of the Lord on June 18, 2026.
A kind-hearted man with a gentle soul, Sam touched the lives of many through his warmth, compassion, and unwavering love for those around him. He was known for his caring nature, quiet strength, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed. His presence brought comfort and joy to family, friends, and colleagues alike.
An avid tennis player, who received numerous awards, Sam, found great enjoyment on the court, and he valued the friendships, sportsmanship, and sense of community the game brought into his life. His passion for tennis reflected his energetic spirit, determination, and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.
Sam was a skilled self-taught contract specialist who completed projects around the world.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, including his loving wife, Loraine Hourani-Stout; his son, Samuel E. Stout, III; his daughter, Alaina Noel (Stout) Crislip (husband Scott Atkins); and his three grandchildren, Penny L. Stout, Riley H. Crislip, and Lila G. Crislip, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Stanley Stout; his father, Samuel E. Stout Sr; his sister, Susan; his Father-In, Law Edy M. Hourani and his Mother-In Law, Nellie Helen (Metry) Hourani, his Brother-In law; Ellis P. Salim and, his nephew; Norman Paul Salim.
Though his time with us was far too short, the love, kindness, and memories he leaves behind will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy will continue through his family and the many lives he touched throughout his journey.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
May he rest in eternal peace in the loving arms of the Lord.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
