Samuel Edward Jackson, 87, of Belpre, Ohio passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born April 18, 1929 in Harlan, Kentucky, a son of the late Edna M. Hitson Vaughner. Mr. Jackson was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was retired from DeGussa (Ashland Chemical) as an instrument maintenance technician with 32 years of service. Prior to that, he was employed for several years with Kaiser Aluminum. Sam enjoyed golf, baseball, dancing and singing. He was a 50+ year member of Menelik Lodge F.&A.M. No. 74 and a member of Whitman Chapel A.M.E. Church where he was a Trustee and sang in the choir. Sam is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Rosalyn M. Ogden Jackson; a son, Stan C. Jackson and wife, Patricia, of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Denise M. Hassel and husband, Karl, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio and Yvonne R. Jackson of Las Vegas, Nev., two grandchildren, Trevor Hassel and Trenity Allen and her husband, Kenneth: four great-grandchildren, Leah, Layla and Laynee Allen and Xavier Hassel; his special dog, Otis; and a host of family and friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Boulevard, Belpre with Pastor Kenneth Boyd officiating. Services will conclude with burial in Rockland Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
