Samuel Leigh Cross

Samuel Leigh Cross, 77, of Mocksville, NC formerly of Parkersburg, WV passed away Monday, March 26, 2018. He was born November 29, 1940 in Wood County, WV a son of the late Ray M. and Frances L. Shields Cross. He was retired from the City of Vienna after 39 years of service and was a former member of the Beech Grove Methodist Church in Medina, WV and currently a member of Hillsdale United Methodist Church in Davie County, NC. Samuel is survived by his wife, Rachel Wilson Cross of Mocksville, NC; his children, Pamela Shank (Bob) of Parkersburg, WV, Michael Moore (Julie) of Augusta, KY, and Teresa Racer (Tom) of Vienna, WV; step-son, Randy W. Gaddy of Mocksville, NC; 16 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Hearn Cross; a son, Gregory Wayne Moore; and his siblings, Hazel Lyons, Robert Cross, James Cross, Myrtle Arthur, Marie Flint, Don Cross, Bill Cross, Zelma Logsdon, Paul Cross and Donna DeFrietas. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, WV with Pastor Rob Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
