Samantha Kay Fordyce, 24, of Parkersburg, W.Va., the youngest daughter of Raymond “Jed” and Shawna George Fordyce, came into this world on June 23, 1991 and passed away on November 28, 2015. Sam was a 2009 graduate of Parkersburg South High School. She was a tremendous athlete, especially softball, and received a softball scholarship from OVU. Sam was an outstanding pitcher and was known as “Slammin Sammi”. Samantha was a loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin, friend and absolutely adored her nieces, Raylen and Layton. She had the ability to light up a room with her smile, great sense of humor, and the cutest laugh. In addition to her parents, she is survived by three sisters, Stacey, Elizabeth and Vicki Fordyce; two nieces, Raylen Dawkins and Layton Hamilton; maternal grandparents, Larry and Carol George of Parkersburg; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Janice Fordyce of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; great-grandmother, Mary L. Jackson of Mineral Wells; aunts and uncles, Larry B. and Judie George, Tommy (Jeannie) Fordyce, Debbie (Wayne) Fordyce, Jody (Veronica) Fordyce Bill (Shawna) Fordyce, Brian (Brandy) Reed and Uncle Rodney Jackson of Mineral Wells; Kristen (Jason) Johnson her fiance, the love of her life, Michael “Pud” Alexander of Parkersburg; numerous cousins, many friends and her softball family whom she loved dearly. Samantha was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Sharon Kay George; maternal great-grandmother, Mildred “Mammy” George; and cousin, Ashley Morgan. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., South Parkersburg with Pastor Tim Burch officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of the services at the funeral home.
