Ruth Ann Thompson

Ruth Ann Thompson, 82, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Ohio Valley Health Care. She was born April 1, 1939, in Spencer, WV, a daughter of the late Leon and Goldie Lockney Powell. Ruth was a homemaker, she loved her family and friends and would do anything to help someone in need. For many years she had disabled adults living in her home, took them to church and family vacations, they became family. She loved to cook and was a hard worker. She attended Christ Mission Baptist Church in Lubeck. She is survived by one daughter, Debbie Arthur of Parkersburg; two step-daughters, Vickie Drain and Angela Hart; two step-sons, Chris Gray and Ira Thompson, Jr; one brother, Ralph Powell (Bobbi) of Spencer WV; four grandchildren, Jeremy Nuhfer, Amanda Davila (Kristian), Christa Nuhfer (Jeff Maddox) and Joshua Forinash ( Amanda); seven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her friend and care-giver of several years, Marilyn Barker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Thompson; daughter, Angela Meadows; one sister, Margaret Tyson and three brothers, John, Joe and Jerry Powell. Also a special friend, who was like family, Greg Beha. Funeral services will be Monday, February 28, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, South Parkersburg with Pastor Mark Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation will be 2pm-4pm Sunday, February 27, 2022 and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home. The family wishes to extend thanks to the caring staff of Ohio Valley Health Care.
