Ruth Naomi Smearman

Ruth Naomi Grimm Smearman, 80, of Belpre, Ohio, passed away on July 30, 2015 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.She was born March 18, 1935, in Irondale, Ohio, a daughter of the late Harry and Marie Russell Grimm.Ruth worked in delivery at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital.She was a homemaker and a mother, an avid bird watcher, animal lover (especially Buddy, Scrappy and Coco) and her beloved dog, Fifi.She enjoyed visiting Sugarcreek Amish Country, and fishing with her son Richie.She is survived by her sons, Charles “Richie” Bailey and wife Donna of Weirton, W.Va., and “Dana” Charles Smearman and wife Mary Beth of Beauford, S.C.; daughter, Diana Bailey Weekly of Parkersburg; seven grandchildren, Bobbie Diane Shawver Cockerham and husband Jason (with whom she lived with and caregivers), Jamie Smith and wife Amy, Charles “Beetle” Bailey and wife Mandy, Joe Bailey, Jeremy, Jacob and Steven Breznal; seven great-grandchildren, Robbie Shawver, Taylor and Reece Smith, Ethan, Mason, Cameron and Brandon Bailey; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Ruth Naomi Bailey; her first husband, Charles Richard Bailey Sr.; her second husband, Clarence “Eddie” “Moose” Smearman; brothers, Charles “Charlie” Grimm and Buddy Grimm; and sister, “Anna” Marie Grimm Tabor.Keeping with Ruth's wishes, there will be no services. Burial will take place in New Manchester, W.Va. at Union Cemetery. She was so loved by her family and will be deeply missed by all of them.The family wishes to extend their thanks to Marietta Memorial Hospital especially the nurses in the Trauma unit on 2nd and 4th floors and Dr. Bhaiji.Family asks that memorials be made to Alzheimer's Association and/or Parkersburg Humane Society.
