The Rev. Russell Earl Perkins, 85, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away March 31, 2012, at Worthington Manor.He was born May 31, 1926, in Braxton County, W.Va., a son of the late James and Mary Cutlip Perkins.Russell retired from Crossroads and Waverly United Methodist Church in 1991 and attended Wayside United Methodist Church. He also served with Cottageville Charge, Rivesville Charge, Good Shepherd and Hickory Chapel Charge, East Vienna and Enterprise Charge. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II.He is survived by his wife, Juanita P. Smith Perkins; two daughters, Carol Ann Chichester of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Betty Jean Perkins (Paul Greynolds) of Vienna, W.Va.; one granddaughter, Brooke Balog (Greg); and four great-grandchildren, Jordan, Connor, Trinity and Kingston Balog.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Erma Lester, Marie Rhodes and Alma Petry; and five brothers, Roy, Bruce, Richard, Leon and Myrl Perkins.Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday,April 3, 2012 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. with the Rev. Dr. Pat Kerr officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Presbyterian Cemetery with full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.The family requests that memorial donations be made to Wayside UMC building fund.
