Russell H. Miller, 81, Parkersburg, WV went to be with the Lord April 15, 2017. He was born February 25, 1936 in Clarksburg, WV, the son of the late Howard R. and Opal V. Miller. Russ was a US Navy veteran. He retired from the West Virginia State Police October 17, 1988 after 29 years of service and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was appointed Chief of Police in Parkersburg, WV, from 1990-1993. He loved being a lawman and was very proud to have served. He was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member of Lodge #9 of Fairmont, WV since 1968. He was a member of the Nemesis Shiners for a number of years and was a member of the American Legion Post 15. He was an avid coon hunter and a devoted family man that enjoyed attending all of his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. He was also a huge WVU fan and attended South Parkersburg United Methodist Church. There were many loves in his life. He was survived by his wife, Patricia A. Miller of 61 years. Three children Robert B. and his wife, Judy, of Romney, WV, Susan E. Board and her late husband, Kenneth, of Williamstown, WV, and Jennifer K. Conaway and her late husband, Michael, of Davisville, WV. He was the grandfather to eight grandchildren: Megan Howell, Jeff Board, Kevin Board, Robbie Miller, Lindsey Conaway, Mark Board, Alex Conaway, and Adrienne Conaway; great grandfather to two great-grandchildren Ayden Howell and Jaelin Howell; as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends and family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Eleanor Kerere and brother, Alan “Buck” Miller. Services will be Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, WV with Reverend James A. Plyburn officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Clarksburg, WV. Friends may call Monday, April 17, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
