A Video Tribute to Russell is now available on this site.Russell Lawrence Mitchell, 80, of Washington, W.Va. passed away on Dec. 8, 2014 at Camden Clark Medical Center.He was born Dec. 10, 1933, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Raymond and Sylvia Yoak Mitchell.Russell was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in the Korean Conflict. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood, W.Va. with over 30 years of service.He had been a member of the Russ and the Untouchables Band and the Doug Hess Band, having played many different instruments. Five of his grandchildren followed in his footsteps playing instruments. In addition to Russell's musical talent, his faith in God and love of his family was the riches of his life.He is survived by three daughters, Pamela (Doug) Dailey of Mineral Wells, W.Va., Lisa (Ronald) Jacob of Palm Coast, Fla., and Christine Cottrill of Mineral Wells; one son, Gary (Sue) Mitchell of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one sister, Patty Richards of Williamstown, W.Va.; one brother, Harold Mitchell of Parkersburg; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Telma Grace Allman Mitchell; one sister, Betty Leasure; and three brothers, Charles, William and James Mitchell.Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., South Parkersburg with full military rites by American Legion Post 15. Interment to follow at Gates Ridge Cemetery in Rockport, W.Va. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
