Russell Lee Covey, 91 of Belpre, Ohio, passed away at his residence, September 24, 2018. He was born January 5, 1927, in Rockland, Ohio, a son of Charles A. and Alda A. Bridenthal Covey. Russell was a graduate of Belpre High School and a US Navy Veteran having served in WW II. He was retired from E.I. DuPont where he worked in the research department. Russell loved to travel, spending winters in Florida and was a member of the Rockland United Methodist Church, Good Sam’s Club and the American Legion. Surviving is his wife, Crystal McDiffitt Covey; his children, Sara Johnson (Larry) of Pickerington, OH, Terry Covey (Linda) of Vienna, and Lori Craft (Larry) of Sutton, WV; one sister, Ruth Ann Cunningham of Pickerington; two step-sons, Christian Rutter (Brooke) and Rand Rutter (Mindy); grandchildren, Julie, Erin, Adam, Alicia and Craig; and several great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Flynn Covey; his grandson, Brent Craft; and one sister, Ruby Francis. Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Belpre with Pastor Emory Clark, Chaplain Ron Calvert officiating and full military rites by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank hospice for helping in his care, making it possible to keep him at home with his family.
